Memorable Mathematical Phrases

In all professions, the most prominent characters always have expressions that reflect their experiences, points of view, discrepancies and expectations, and personal concern about the activities to which they devote their energies throughout their lives. Mathematics is one of them.

Mathematicians are born, they are not made. (Henri Poincaré, French mathematician, his contribution to the algebraic topology are remarkable)

Pure mathematicians are enthusiastic about solving unsolved problems. They love the challenges (Andrew Wiles, English mathematician, presented in 1995 the demonstration of Fermat's last Theorem, unbeatable for 350 years)

Give me a large enough lever and a point of support, and I will move the world (Archimedes, Greek mathematician, presented the principle that today is revealed in infinity of tools that we use in every field)

The great mathematicians such as Archimedes, Newton, Gauss always combined theories and applications in equal amounts (Felix Klein, German mathematician, do you remember the Klein Bottle, a topological structure that has no interior or exterior?)

Mathematical patterns must be beautiful, beauty is the first test; there is no permanent place in the world for ugly mathematics (G.H. Hardy, English mathematician, supported the great Indian self-taught mathematician Ramanujan)
